Mission:
We
are non-partisan as a group, and we seek to attract and maintain a
membership that is multi-partisan, sharing a core set of principles in
common.
WalkAMileInOurShoes.org is a community of citizens from all walks of life, working together to spark change that makes a concrete positive improvement to lives on a daily basis. We seek to provide a voice to citizens through a platform which is developed around our common goals and common sense - something often lacking in policy and its implementation.
The Common Goals Platform includes technical issues such as the economy, health care, jobs, energy, ..., and also seeks to elevate particular issues in media and public awareness such as: truth in media is a core element necessary to democracy, zero tolerance for gender bias in politics and the media, and women's rights are human rights - the empowerment of women benefits society as a whole. We will achieve goals by developing and maintaining a platform and building a coalition composed of our membership and partner organizations. Together we will make the platform visible and persuasive to public policy makers, legislators, and persistently engage the broader public, and thereby effect lasting positive change in policy and legislation and the media.
Our group also has a commitment to every member in pooling our knowledge and capabilities for the common community good and the good of each individual member. We will innovate as necessary to make participation towards common goals efficient, effective and fruitful, especially so that everyday American's with busy lives and real problems may yet be enabled to act and see the results.
